RCA received a press release notice from Supervisor Hudgin’s office on Friday that contains an important reminder for the community:
“Supervisor Cathy Hudgins and the Fairfax County Department of Planning and Zoning are hosting a community meeting to present a working draft of Fairfax County Comprehensive Plan text pertaining to the Reston community. The meeting will be held on Saturday morning, September 13, 2014, from 8:45 – 11:30 a.m., at Reston Association, 12001 Sunrise Valley Drive, Reston. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m.
The working draft text will address the residential areas of Reston, the Village Centers, and other commercial areas located outside of the Town Center or Transit Station Areas. This first meeting will focus on understanding the plan guidance designed to preserve the existing residential neighborhoods, the Convenience Centers and the commercial area north of Baron Cameron Avenue and west of Reston Parkway. The draft text will be reviewed at the meeting and the community is invited to offer comments on the ideas contained in the document.”
According to the notice, the second community meeting on October 18, 2014 will focus on the Village Centers. Reston Citizens Association is pleased to learn that a third meeting will be held in November for additional community discussion of the draft, an encouraging response to our request to Supervisor Hudgins on August 2, 2014.
We strongly suggest that each and every interested citizen of Reston plan to attend the upcoming community meetings.
In the meantime, you can prepare for the upcoming meeting by reviewing the Working Draft that is located on the Fairfax County website’s Reston Master Plan Special Study page at this link.
