January 25, 2026 – Reston, VA – In a statement the Board of Reston Citizens Association (RCA) expressed surprise, sorrow, and dismay at the news of Mac Cummins’ resignation. RCA President, Lynne Mulston stated “No more than eight months ago, RCA passed a resolution recognizing the Senior Leadership team at RA led so successfully and conscientiously by Mr. Cummins. The RCA resolution further acknowledged the RA senior leadership team as a very influential and positive presence in Reston, demonstrated by their dedication to the well-being and vibrancy of our community; and their proactive work to master Reston’s planning principles and the significance of preserving open spaces, including the two (2) eighteen-hole golf courses, which are integral to the community’s character in Reston’s Biophilic Community. During his just over three-year tenure, he restored fiscal balance, significantly improved communication with members, and, as a true community builder, launched the highly successful Winterfest tradition.
Additionally, Mr. Cummins was appointed by the Governor of Virginia to the Virginia Common Interest Community (CIC) Board, a state regulatory body responsible for overseeing the governance and operations of common interest communities throughout the Commonwealth. Mr. Cummins will be remembered as one of the best CEOs in Reston Association history by the RCA Board and he will be sorely missed.” The RCA Board wishes Mr. Cummins success in his future endeavors.
